Grade Data Base

Course Grade Componenets

• The grade distribution is determined by the declared computer science pre-majors. If the class finishes with at least 25 people, then the average course grade of the computer science pre-majors will be between 2.4 and 2.6.
• The grade for each programming assignment has the following components:

• 90%: Correctness
• 10%: Style, readability,and documentation

 
• If your program does not compile, you will get a maximum of 50%, usually much less.

Make-ups, Exceptions, and Incompletes

 

Your lowest programming assignment grade will be dropped.

 

You cannot request a make-up examination on the day of, or after, the examination.

 

No grade policy modification will be granted to any individual.

 

Don't ask.  It is my job to protect the rest of the class from people who petition for special treatment.  No student will be treated differently from any other, no matter how compelling they feel their personal circumstances are.  Again, this policy is designed to protect and reward students who have the self-discipline to:

• work hard from the first day;
• care properly for themselves;
• plan ahead carefully, and carry through on those plans.

Consider the course drop option carefully.  Once the drop deadline has passed, you are here for the whole ride.

Incompletes are given only to students who drop out of school for the quarter: They drop all their courses, with the approval of the Dean's office.
