Project Presentation

- Be ready to begin your presentation at any time during the
lecture period in which it is scheduled.
- All team members present, and must be prepared to answer
questions.
- The intended audience is:
- a venture capitalist or user
- the venture capitalist's or user's technical expert.
- Your goal: Persuade:
- The venture capitalist or user to embrace your vision
of your
product/service/game
- The technical expert that you have:
- identified the key
technical issues (i.e., the most difficult
technical issues)
- have a high quality design with respect to these key
technical issues.
- To achieve your goal, present the information you developed
in the process of developing your project, such as:
- Vision, including a summary of important use
cases.
- A class diagram.
- Project architecture (e.g., package diagram), &
key
design elements.
- You may demonstrate your project's
features. It is not required. If you do:
- Package the complete system, including the Java Runtime
Environment:
- Bring a laptop. Have a
contingency plan, in case your
demonstration does not work.
- You may use my
computer to show PowerPoint or other presentations.
- Have a back-up plan in case your PowerPoint does
not run on
the class computer.
- Practice your presentation to ensure that it conveys
what you want, and
completes within the time frame.
When judging your presentation, beyond the content that is mentioned
above, we seek an
effective presentation. Here is the
form that we and the students fill out for each presentation:

A few tips
- Yes, this is part of your grade, but your life does not
depend on how you do on this presentation. Accept in advance that your
presentation is not going to be perfect. The goal is to gain the experience, and to
learn from it. Speaking is a skill. Like riding a bike, it takes
practice. Be patient with yourself.
- Relax. Breathe. You are among friends. We are interested in
what you
have to say.
- Keep eye contact: When you are speaking, always look at
some particular person in the audience. Speak to that particular
person. Casually move your eyes and focus among the individuals in the
audience.
