  1. Cloud [computing]: See Wikipedia entry.
  2. [Computer] cluster: See Wikipedia entry.
  3. Color Map: A function m from the integers to the Color class. This is used to translate the iteration count to a color for the purpose of visualizing the Mandelbrot Set, especially points in the neighborhood of the set boundary.
  4. GPU (Graphics Processing Unit): See Wikipedia entry.
  5. Image resolution: See Wikipedia entry.
  6. Iteration count: In the definition of iteration limit, the recurrence index, n, is the iteration count.
  7. Iteration limit: To determine if a point, c in the complex plane is in the Mandelbrot Set, we compute a recurrence,
    zn = zn - 1 * zn - 1 + c,
    where z0 = 0, until either the size of zn exceeds some threshold (e.g., 2), in which case the point is not in the Mandelbrot Set, or n exceeds some value, called the iteration limit, in which case we presume that c is in the Mandelbrot Set.
