• Many class libraries exist; others are being developed worldwide.
• Software is then constructed from existing classes that are:
  • well-defined
  • carefully tested
  • well documented
  • portable
  • widely available
• An area of research is the problem of easily finding what classes exist, and easily determining if a class meets sone's needs for a specific problem.
• The amount of money saved in reuse is enormous, hence the motivation for making it easy is too.
