Multimedia is a broad "umbrella" that combines different fields of expertise, including imaging and color science, video and audio coding, compression, editing and analysis, distribution, search and mining, and security.
In this advanced undergraduate course, we will bring together various aspects of a modern multimedia pipeline from content creating, editing, distribution, and protection on different end terminals. We will use several class projects to implement hot examples from industry, such as video editing, mobile multimedia, IPTV, image search, and digital right management.
Prerequisites
- Haven taken at least one programming language class;
- Experience in doing software projects of reasonable size/complexity;
- (Optional) Haven taken CS176A/B.
