PDCS'02
The PDCS'02 conference was again a complete success. We were very fortunate to have two excellent Keynote Speakers.

* On Monday November 4th, Professor H. T. Kung, the William H. Gates Professor of Computer Science at Harvard University presented his Keynote Address entitled

A Better Network Security Strategy:
Put Adversaries in a Disadvantage,

where several different approaches to Network Security were introduced and discussed.

* On Wednesday November 6th, Dr. Tom Leighton, Chief Scientist at Akamai Technologies and Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology gave his Keynote Address entitled

The Challenges of Delivering
Content and Applications on the Internet,

He discussed the technical aspects that need to be resolved in order to deliver, in a timely manner, data and information through the Internet to millions of destinations.

* On Tuesday Nov. 5th, Professor Masaaki Mizuno and Professor Gurdip Singh from Kansas State University presented an excellent Tutorial entitled

Aspect-Oriented Approach for
Synchronization in Concurrent and Embedded Systems.

The tutorial discussed new tools for the elegant and simple solution of synchronization problems in concurrent and embedded systems.


* During the Banquet we announced the Best Paper Awards. The five papers that received this award were:

We have started with the initial preparation for the 15th IASTED International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Computing and Systems (PDCS'03). The conference will be held on Nov. 3 - 5, 2003 in Marina Del Rey, CA and I will serve as the International Program Committee Chair. You will all receive further announcements in the near future and we hope we can again count on your support for 2003.
