PDCS'03
The PDCS'03 conference was again a complete success. In addition
to a strong technical program, we had an excellent Keynote
Presentation, as well as, a tutorial on a very important topic.
* On Monday November 3rd, Professor Viktor K. Prasanna, Professor
Electrical and Computer Engineering, as well as Professor of
Computer Science, at the University of Southern California presented
his Keynote Address entitled
"Energy Efficient Computations on FPGAs,"
where a methodology for optimizing the energy performance of FPGAs
implementations was discussed. The performance of FPGAs was then
compared to that of other systems.
* On Monday Nov. 3rd, Professor David Lilja from the University
of Minnesota presented an excellent Tutorial entitled
"Statistical Tools for Reliable Performance Evaluation."
The tutorial discussed several statistical tools for the analysis
of the performance of different systems.
* Best Paper Awards
About 20% of the papers accepted were nominated (by the reviewers)
for the Best Paper Awards. About 20% of those nominated received
the award. The awards were announced during the Banquet on Tuesday
November 4th. The six papers that received this award were:

We have started the initial preparation for the 16th IASTED
International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Computing
and Systems (PDCS'04) and we are considering several alternatives
to enhance our technical program. The conference will be held
on Nov. 8 - 11, 2004 in Cambridge Massachusetts at the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology. You will all receive further announcements
in the near future and we hope we can count again with your support.
Thank you very much for all your support and your efforts to make
PDCS'03 a very successful conference, and we hope to see you all at
the PDCS'04 Conference. Please keep in mind the possibility of
organizing special sessions, and feel free to contact IASTED
