Abstract:
IGERT and MAT graduates Rama Hoetzlein, Eric
Newman, Alex Norman, Lance Putnam, Wesley Smith and Graham Wakefield present
the MINT project: a proposal for interactive digital media research.
Interactive Digital Media research demands
collaboration between skilled practitioners of different media art, technology
and scientific fields and likewise demands tools that are capable across
many areas and potential applications. Building upon existing expertise,
the MINT research group are investigating the underlying requirements
of digital media research, current and potential solutions, and the benefits
of open-ended development. The knowledge resulting from these investigations
is being practically embodied as a new software framework (MINT), a platform
for general research applicable to the continuum of new media arts, interactive
multimedia, digital performances and scientific research.
