In this lecture, we will first discuss the basics of 5G technology, standards and global network rollouts. We will then talk about the future technology evolution and research challenges at the intersection of “5G, edge computing and AI/ML” for realizing distributed multi-cloud to address Industrial IoT applications. The lecture will conclude with a discussion on research opportunities over next decade for 5G as well as early 6G research areas.
