Only Citizens
and Permanent Residents of the United States are eligible to receive
NSF IGERT Fellowships. However, those students hailing from overseas,
or those who simply did not receive a fellowship, are still welcome
to participate in IGERT program activities by becoming "Associates."
IGERT Associates research fellowships include a stipend to support
interdisciplinary research in an area related to Interactive Digital
Multimedia during the months of July - October. Associates will
join a team of Trainees, adding thier own interdisciplinary spin
to a collaborative project.
To become and IGERT IGERT Associate you must be pursuing a PhD (or
MFA if Art Studio) and must be returning to UCSB for at least a
year after their supported summer. Interested applicants should
consult with current IGERT trainees and faculty and seek a recommendation.
The best way to do this is to attend the weekly seminar series.
Both international and domestic students are eligible to apply.
As an IGERT associate, a student can benefit from many of the program's
perks (internships, interdisciplinary advising, etc.). Associates
are just as much a part of the team as Trainees, and will be looked
to for research collaborations and other IGERT related responsibilities
in the future.
